I found this satin material on sale for only $2/meter ! Can't get much better than that ! However, it is a little bit stiff and makes a ssshh ssshh sound when I move but that's ok, hahaha.
The pattern is from a Japanese magazine called Female - Summer 2010 edition. Everything (except numbers) is written in Japanese, but the sewing steps are clearly illustrated so it came together nicely.
The problems come from me making silly mistakes like...not putting the dress on the fold so that I now have a seam down the front center. Lucky I made it look like a feature ?! The sash was sewn inside out, so that took alot of unpicking - and then I ironed it and melted a huge hole in it !!! Luckily it was towards the end, so I could just chop that bit off. The sash is slightly too short now, but I don't think I will wear it anyway, I think it will look better with a brown belt to break up the pattern.
It took awhile to make this dress, only because it is the middle of winter and this dress is entirely summery, so I didn't have the drive to get it done quickly. But I'm glad it is finished because now I can get to work on a track suit for my daughter that will be made out of a stretchy velvety material with sparkles on it...I can't wait !
