The characters we bought to life this year were:
Little Ragged Blossom from the beautiful Snugglepot and Cuddlepie books by May Gibbs
and the BFG from the enchanting Roald Dahl novel.
Not one for dressing up, I was very surprised that my son was more than excited to wear larger that life ears around school all day! They ears were easy enough to make...cardboard cutouts with some paper mache detailing attached to a headband. His dream trumpet was a long paper tube with a plastic funnel on the end spray painted gold.
On the other hand, my little girl who loves the attention of getting dressed up was in a brown felt 'gumnut' hat adorned with yellow tulle and pom poms. The skirt was made by knotting tulle around an elastic waistband. I made the green jumpsuit last year when she had to dress up as a frog. The pattern was from one of my Burdastyle magazines.
And they had a fantastic day!
