I can't tell you how excited I am about these shorts! I drafted the pattern myself and I can't believe how they came out. So much so that I am going to draw up a pattern for them. This will be my first ever so I can see it might take some time to do, but I have a drafting and design background, all be it in houses, so I'm sure I can use some of my knowledge to help with this little side project ?!?....I'm hoping anyway! I would love to know if you are interested, just to keep my enthusiasm up :)
The shorts are made of a medium weight denim. They have a fitted front waistband that comes down to a point, a gathered front and angled side pockets. The fur vest I made for her over 2 years ago is still being worn!
For the hem line, I used the selvage of the material. I thought it gave a great effect having an already made frayed edge with the darker denim above.
The side seams are finished off only with a zig-zag stitch so it looks a little messy but I didn't have too much of a choice because it ran all the way down to the frayed edge and I didn't know how to end the serger stitch nicely. I do however always like to put a different fabric on the inside, just for fun.
The kids and I went into the city today, it was a really nice day out. We walked past this wall and I thought it would make a cool backdrop. It was so nice to photograph against something like this rather than trying to find that interesting spot in the backyard that never seems to be right. I might have to cruise into the city more often! Look at her extreme head tilt, its just adorable, hahaha.
