My Japanese sewing magazine, Cucito - Winter 2011 edition, arrived a few days ago. Perfect because the first signs of winter (well, cooler weather) are finally here...a few overcast days and temperature's hovering at the low 20's.
The first thing I made was this little faux fur vest for my daughter, with full intention of making one for myself later this week! It turned out really well apart from a few things...the lining kept slipping when I lay it over the fur. So the lining isn't as tight as I would of liked it to be. Also I wasn't very careful cutting the fur, but fortunately the only place noticeable is at the bottom of the vest where the fur seems too straight. I'll be a bit more patient with the cutting when it comes to my vest. Also, you can see my hand sewing on the lining at the bottom of the vest where I left it open to turn it right side out. Apart from that, it came together really nicely.
She wasn't too happy to have the vest on, as you can see in the photo. There was no appreciation for the time it took me to make it for her :) But atleast it gives you an idea of what it looks like on....which is just so cute!
Do you think it's going to be funny to see mother and daughter in matching fur vests out-and-about on the streets?! Hahaha, I don't know if I could do it, but it would make a cute photo!
