I wanted to make something really special for my daughter's first birthday.
I had a dress in mind, but not a pattern for it, so that was my biggest obstical....drafting my first pattern. I used bits and pieces out of three different patterns and made a quick sample up to make sure I had got it right.
I went to an amazing fabric store called Calico and Ivy to get the material. There were so many beautiful prints, if I wasn't trying to entertain my daughter at the same time I could of spent hours looking through roll after roll.
It was an expensive (for what I'm used to) Liberty of London cotton so I only got half a meter. I should of got more because I couldn't fit the binding on at a 45° angle. It meant the binding around the neckline didn't sit as nicely as it should of, but hopefully only my mum picked that up!
A cream sash around the waist tied up in a great big bow at the back and she looked so beautiful.
I should also mention her headband, itsn't it just so adorable?! That's from an Etsy store called Girlie Girl Boutique.
