I've made a few things since my last blog entry, but not until now have I had the chance to relax and write a few things down. Not that it isn't busy around me..my husband is trying to feed my daughter and getting more food around her than in her. Not that it is his fault, she's knocking the spoon around! Meanwhile outside, my mum is running around after my son. I don't know whether I am hearing more screaming or laughing!
Anyway, while I have the chance...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
What have I been up to....
For me, I have sewn a cotton 3 tiered summer dress. Each tier gathered onto the next. A bit too relaxed and billowy (is that a word?!) looking for my husband to appreciate, but I find it so comfortable to wear around the house. I also made a great dress for my daughters Christening. It turned out really well. A cream/beige stretch jersey dress with black sequined cuffs on the arms. I didn't like how the waist was elasticised so I threw over a black belt and that solved that problem. And, I didn't know how to finish off the front neckline, so the edge was left raw. I don't think it was noticable, maybe only when I lent forward, but it still bothered me. Maybe I should of just rolled the hem. I don't know, but nothing a bit of Hollywood tape didn't fix for awhile! Both patterns were from my Japanese pattern books. So easy to follow for a beginner like me.
And for my daughter, I have since made her two little outfits - one for Christmas and one for Boxing Day. Little tops with matching bloomers. So cute! She started crawling about 3 weeks ago, so no more dresses for a while - they slow her down as they get caught under her knees :) I've got to give her a chance to keep up with her older brother!
I have to also mention that I have added a new page - "My Mum's Work". I really wanted to show off my daughter's Christening gown that she made - take a look, it is beautiful.
