My little girl started 3 year old kindergarten last week. She has a purple school top she has to wear, so I made a skirt and hat to go with it. I can't wait to see the skirt at the end of term...in the handbook apparently the wearing of art smocks isn't enforced, haha nevermind, the material and labor was cheap :)
So the hat was my first Oliver + S Reversible Bucket Hat. It turned out fabulously! We're already half way through Summer, and I can't believe I have only made my first one! The instructions are easy to follow and I made it in about 2½ hours. The pattern is free, go get it!
The skirt with shorts under, is great for all the unlady-like climbing and sitting she will most likely be doing while at school :) The little matching bloomer shorts are attached to the waistband under the skirt. The ribbon is threaded through the waistband (with the elastic) and comes out of two seperate button hole openings. I didn't use an exact pattern for this, I just made the shorts, gathered a skirt onto them, and added a waistband. Quicker to make than the hat!
And off she goes to school with her little Dora backpack on, so so cute.
